چکیده

The public key cryptosystem MST1 has been introduced in [9]. Its security relies on the hardness of factoring with respect to wild logarithmic signatures. To identify ‘wild-like’ logarithmic signatures, the criterion of being totally-non-transversal has been proposed. We give tame totally-non-transversal logarithmic signatures for the alternating and symmetric groups of degree ≥ 5. Hence, basing a key generation procedure on the assumption that totally-non-transversal logarithmic signatures are ‘wild like’ seems critical. We also discuss the problem of recognizing ‘weak’ totally-non-transversal logarithmic signatures, and demonstrate that another proposed key generation procedure based on permutably transversal logarithmic signatures may produce weak keys.

Valproic Acid Ameliorates Locomotor Function in the Rat Model of Contusion via Alteration of Mst1, Bcl-2, and Nrf2 Gene Expression

Background: As a novel pro-apoptotic kinase, Mammalian sterile 20–like kinase 1 (Mst1) promotes programmed cell death in animal models of inflammatory diseases. This research aimed to determine the level of expression of Mst1 gene in a rat model of spinal cord injury (SCI) treated with valproic acid (VPA). Methods: Animals were divided into four groups: Contused animals (untreated); laminectom...

Regulation of the MST1 kinase by autophosphorylation, by the growth inhibitory proteins, RASSF1 and NORE1, and by Ras.

MST1 (mammalian Sterile20-like 1) and MST2 are closely related Class II GC (protein Ser/Thr) kinases that initiate apoptosis when transiently overexpressed in mammalian cells. In the present study, we show that recombinant MST1/2 undergo a robust autoactivation in vitro, mediated by an intramolecular autophosphorylation of a single site [MST1(Thr183)/MST2(Thr180)] on the activation loop of an M...

Effect of Spinal Nerve Ligation after Endurance Training on the Gene Expression of MST1 and MAFbx in Plantaris Muscle of Male Wistar Rats

Background and purpose: Reduction of muscle mass occurs in some models of muscle atrophy during mechanical unloading status and MST1 and MAFbx genes are believed to have a role. In the present study, the effect of reduced physical activity in the form of spinal nerve ligation (SNL) after a period of endurance training (ET) on the expression of MST1 and MAFbx genes were examined in the rat plant...

Glyceraldehyde-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Interacts with Proapoptotic Kinase Mst1 to Promote Cardiomyocyte Apoptosis

Mammalian sterile 20-like kinase 1 (Mst1) is a critical component of the Hippo signaling pathway, which regulates a variety of biological processes ranging from cell contact inhibition, organ size control, apoptosis and tumor suppression in mammals. Mst1 plays essential roles in the heart disease since its activation causes cardiomyocyte apoptosis and dilated cardiomyopathy. However, the mechan...

Caspase-mediated activation and induction of apoptosis by the mammalian Ste20-like kinase Mst1.

Mst1 is a ubiquitously expressed serine-threonine kinase, homologous to the budding yeast Ste20, whose physiological regulation and cellular function are unknown. In this paper we show that Mst1 is specifically cleaved by a caspase 3-like activity during apoptosis induced by either cross-linking CD95/Fas or by staurosporine treatment. CD95/Fas-induced cleavage of Mst1 was blocked by the cystein...
